Tregaddick Lodge

We were instructed to design a large extension and detached garage to the modest sized lodge bungalow formerly associated with Tregaddick House. The existing bungalow’s accommodation consisted of two bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen and family bathroom. The lodge sat in spacious grounds with mature planting with its principle elevation south facing. Our client’s brief was to modify the internal layout of the existing lodge and provide a subservient extension to consist of a lounge, utility room and master bedroom with en-suite bathroom facilities, linked to the main house with a glazed entrance hall.

The extension was designed to sit as a lightweight and contemporary addition to the existing dwelling without causing harm to its character or that of the surrounding area which is designated as an Area of Great Landscape Value. The use of natural sustainable materials including vertical timber cladding, grey powder coated aluminium windows and doors, with extensive green roof, provide a modern addition to the traditional form of the existing lodge.

Planning was granted by Cornwall Council and work has begun on the provision of the construction drawings for the building regulation application. Work is intended to commence in the spring of 2016.
